CEO and Business Speaker

“It’s no coincidence.   America’s economic decline coincides with the decline in character, morals and principles of its leaders”
Jerry Salandro, CEO, innovator of video software technology and business speaker explains to audiences why growing up poor in America was the best business school on earth.  Salandro has garnered many awards throughout his career. The one closest to his heart is the one he claims no one should expect an award for; the American Business Ethics Award.

“Years ago leaders were people of high character who were expected to do the right thing” Salandro offers.  He theorizes that our country’s current economic crisis came about as a result of the ‘if it feels good, do it’ mentality that has existed in our country for the past few generations.  “Leaders of corporations do the wrong thing and their employees follow suit” Salandro offers, “if you truly want to change ethics we ALL have to do the right thing.  If everyone in the corporation remains principled it will effect change everywhere, even at the top”.

We’ve now seen dozens of examples detailing how Wall Street, High-Finance, Healthcare and Auto-Execs ignored ethics for so long it became business as usual.  Salandro, once highly placed in the auto industry himself, says that it’s not difficult to get back on track if we remember who we are and work to regain the global identity our ancestors sought to put in place. The problems, he feels, began when America drifted from a character based society to a personality based one.   While he admits that a good personality is worthy trait, Salandro says it must be wrapped around a deeper package that includes honesty and integrity; “You’d never hear a mother say she didn’t care if her children grew up to be dishonest scoundrels as long as they had great personalities”.

Salandro, who grew up poor in western Pennsylvania coal mining country, says that it was the lessons he learned from his early life that helped him rise above but remember his roots.  Growing up his family of 9 lived in a 2 bedroom home… with no running water.

Audiences seem hungry for the powerful and motivational messages Salandro delivers as he travels the country during speaking engagements. He encourages Corporations, government leaders, rank and file workers, teachers and students to add high morals and ethics to their list of career goals.  Jerry challenges his audiences to remember and return to Americas roots, simple and basic principles that will serve themselves and their country well.

Be Grateful

Be Grateful. Be Prepared. Be Significant !

We do not get to where we are in life without the efforts of many others that trained, inspired, and prayed for us!   Many people have come before us... a parent, a teacher, a soldier!

Be Grateful

Be Grateful. Be Prepared. Be Significant !

“Be Grateful for all those who have come before you.  Be Prepared by planning to succeed. Be Significant by helping others succeed!”
Jerry Salandro

We have all studied history and of the millions of people who have sacrificed for our country. There have been people in your life that have impacted your life: parents who have put you before themselves to help you succeed, grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends that have guided and watched over you. There are the teachers who have inspired and empowered you, steered you along the path and, yes, put up with you.

We don’t get to where we are through only our own efforts. Over the course of my life, hundreds of people have played a significant role in my success.,, and I am  blessed and truly grateful!

Creating a Culture Where People Love Coming to Work™

Workplace ethics are making a comeback in America, and the trend could not have come at a better time, said highly regarded CEO and speaker Jerry Salandro. “There was a time when astuteness in ethics was the order of the day. It is little surprise that America is known to have flourished in those times, with a working economy that was the envy of the rest of the world; Also, in those times, America could boast of a long list of leaders whose sheer ethical discipline was enough to motivate the country to greatness,” said Salandro.

Salandro points out that when a workplace is rotten the leaders are tagged as unethical while employees are let off the hook. We all must have the ethics in our hearts to make a successful organizational culture that serves our customers with the highest integrity. If a company is known for great customer service it’s because its’ employees are great at serving people; at home, in our communities and in the workplace. We all make the company’s culture because it reflects our integrity and our ethics.

“Members of the public, which includes churches, businesses and organizations, need to realize that being ethically disciplined is everyone’s responsibility. “If an employer is ethically rotten, employees can choose not work for that employer. If a church leader is not ethically astute, the congregation has a responsibility to disengage from such leadership.”

Salandro encourages corporations, government leaders, rank and file workers, teachers and students to add high character morals like integrity, honesty, kindness and hard work to their list of career aspirations.  Salandro challenges his audiences to remember and return to Americas’ roots, simple and basic principles that will serve themselves, their workplace and their country well.

Salandro’s 35-year career as a CEO of a high-tech manufacturing and software company believes hard work, tenacity and perseverance has guided him from meager beginnings to creating a successful multimillion dollar company and a corporate culture where people love coming to work.
“Times change,” said Salandro, “but not good ethical principles.”

About Me

Inventor, CEO and Speaker

  •

An entrepreneur, inventor and innovator of video technology software, Jerry Salandro founded IRIS Technologies in 1987.  An expert with more than thirty years of experience using video technology to teach students, athletes and professionals, Jerry holds nearly 56 patent claims on video devices that are being used across the country in places like the Pentagon, NASA and Comcast as well as in colleges and high schools from New Hampshire to California.  He speaks to students, coaches and businesses across the country on, “How leaders can create work environments were people will love coming to work”.

Salandro discovered his love for technology while teaching and working on his Master’s Degree at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  During his research he discovered that people only remember a mere 3% the next day when taught using lecture methods and a surprising 70% when taught using video, pictures or other visuals.  This research changed how Salandro began training employees and students throughout his career.  Compelled to make a difference in an educational environment where using videotape was a major obstacle, Jerry dedicated himself to making video easier to use for everyone.

A pioneer in using software and technology to make training easy for educators, Salandro was responsible for the largest training effort in state history.  While he served as Education and Training Supervisor for Volkswagen Manufacturing Corporation of America, he was responsible for hiring and training systems for 5,000 VW employees. In 1980, Salandro also designed a franchise concept for the one hour photo industry.  In 1982, he developed the world’s first equipment to transfer photos, slides and home movies to video tape…and later to digital media format.  This was the advent of today’s popular home media servers and personal video recorders.

Recognized as a “Business & Training Coach”, Jerry now uses his video training expertise in mentoring and teaching employees and students, at his company and at companies, schools and universities around the country.  Jerry’s unique skill in making products easy to use has brought him great recognition from executives, teachers and coaches.  “Allowing teachers, coaches and instructors to easily find and use video helps kids and people learn faster and remember more.  A picture is worth a thousand words, but it’s too hard to find the picture we need… when we are training”, says Jerry when speaking across the country.   Solving problems like finding  the right training video information when you need it have been his life’s passion.

Jerry is a graduate of the California University of Pennsylvania and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he received his Master’s Degree in Education.  Salandro has received the Business Person of the Year Award from the Westmoreland Economic Development Corporation, theDistinguished Alumni Award from California University and the Business Ethics Award from American Business Ethics Association.  His company was nominated in the top 50 fastest growing companies in Western Pennsylvania.
